- ADIA has hired Naveed Malik as the Global Head of Quantitative Research and Development. Malik joins from Millennium where he was the global head of systematic data. Previously Malik worked at as head of data at Cubist Systematic Strategies, the quant fund division of Point72.
- Arrowpoint Investment Partners has hired a portfolio manager, Nick Gao to its team after launching last month. Gao joins from Welwig Capital Group where he was a senior portfolio manager.
- Balyasny Asset Management, has appointed Aditya Singh, a former Goldman Sachs director, as a macro portfolio manager. Singh is set to join the firm’s London office in November.
- Bluecrest has recruited senior oil portfolio manager Jonathon Nicholls from BP. He will be focused on trading crude, refined and agricultural derivatives using a combination of systematic and discretionary approaches.
- Capstone Investment Advisors has hired Brian Hopkins from Hudson Bay Capital Management. Hopkins will join as head of business development, spent nearly two years at Hudson Bay.
- Caxton Associates has hired quantitative portfolio manager Jasmeet Chadha. who will run a quantitative book as a portfolio manager. The move came after a year building and launching Boson, a New York based quant hedge fund that traded equities and futures.
- Citadel has hired Matthew Cohen as a fundamental long/short equity into their discretionary unit, Ashler Capital. Cohen joins from Third Point as managing director to lead a new consumer sector pod.
- Cubist Systematic Strategies has hired Julien Kockelkoren, a 21-year veteran of Capital Fund Management to lead quant macro investing within its central team in New York.
- Jain Global has hired Kelly Bezas as COO of commodities from Six One Commodities. Bezas joins after six years at Six One, where she was the global operations head.
- Quadrature has appointed Heath Windcliff, former Global Head of Electronic Client Solutions at JPMorgan, in an execution role in the firm’s soon-to-open New York office. Windcliff spent the past four years at JPMorgan and prior to that, 16 years at Morgan Stanley, where he was Global Head of Quantitative Research for Equity Algorithmic Trading.
- Verition has recruited a Segantii emerging markets team to run a pod from Dubai. Jenagan Ragunathan joined the firm as a portfolio manager where he will lead a three-person emerging markets equities unit. Analyst Piotr Drozd and trader Kowshik Balaji Thiagarajan have also made the move from shuttering Segantii. Ragunathan joined Segantii in 2022 and previously worked as a trader at Goldman Sachs and Citi.
- West Basin Capital Management has hired Kelly Balavender as head of marketing and investor relations from Bridgewater Associates.
